Travelling northwards through Colombia. If you’re into mountains and windy roads the journey from Pasto to Popayan is spectacular. On the way we stopped at Buga which is famous for its Basilica del Señor de los Milagros. Arriving late in Popayan, unfortunately there isn’t time to explore the city. On the return journey we will stay here for 2 nights.

The city was founded in the year 1537 by Sebastian de Belalcazar. Because of its beautiful colonial houses, it is known as the “white city”. Popayan has played a major role in Colombia’s history dating back to the early days of the Spanish conquest.
I am looking forward to returning here when we head back south.
