Popayán is located in southwestern Colombia between Colombia’s Western Mountain Range and Central Mountain Range, 1760 meters above sea level.
The town is well-known because of its beautiful colonial architecture and its contributions to Colombian cultural and political life. It is also known as the “white city” due to the colour of the most of colonial houses and places in the city, where several churches are located.

Traveling southward we should cross the border back into Ecuador in a couple of days on route for Quito. In Quito we will fly out to the Galápagos Islands where we spend the next five day’s cruising round the islands 🙂
