Finally out of Georgia! Visited the Khan’s Summer Place in Sheki (1762) – a rare example of combining the national and palace architecture traditions. It is remarkable that during the construction, not a single nail was used, and the coloured glass for shebeke (national mosaic) was brought from Venice. Ended up being mobbed by a group of school children that where also visiting.
Azerbaijan is far more affluent than Georgia the buildings are fare better maintained and the roads and streets are cleaner. Everybody is friendly! Walking down the streets people greet you 🙂
